Grand River in Bridgeport, Kitchener

Night Photoshoot!

The initial thought when experiencing those high water levels in bridgeport were a bit frighting. Not experiencing anything like this since I have been in the area since 1998. It was on June 24, 2017 that we decided to cover the moment and we ended up taking a trip around to capture the event at night. We had a chance to take gorgeous photos of the water nearly touching the bottom of the bridge. Street and home lights reflecting off the waters surface allowing for a spectacular glow.

A small glimpse of our earlier article.

“The park that runs parallel with the river is completely flooded. I remember as a kid running around with rubber boots through the fields. This would not be possible now with the amount of water that has flooded the fields. While on my walk, taking pictures, I ran into many concerned families that were investigating the floods. They also couldn’t believe the amount of flooding that has occurred. “

The night was calm and quiet while wandering around. Its peaceful here and thats why I always loved Bridgeport. Thankfully we have the correct procedures in place to prevent a flood that could destroy everything.

*for those that are interested in how I took the photos, I used my landscape Lumix G X F2.8 12-35mm lens and had the ISO at 200 and shutter speed between 1-15 seconds (the darker the longer). The camera was mounted on a tripod to prevent any movement.
